I think in every company there are moments when we realize how different we are. Even after 17 years, I still discover new things about my colleagues, about how much we are similar, but also how different we are at the same time.
I once read in a book that "without diversity, life would be boring". I think that's how it is in a team: without diversity, things wouldn't be in constant motion. Each of us contributes differently, we see things from different perspectives, but I think that's natural and that's why we're constantly evolving together.
What is life without stories? Almost nothing... But with this in mind, I tried to combine our work with childhood stories.
Therefore, I tried to make a comparison (as any evaluator does in their daily work) with the names/traits of the 7 dwarfs from the story "Snow White and the 7 Dwarfs", only this time, Snow White is part of the team, and without the dwarfs she would not have been able to survive, she knows that. As I said in the previous article, the team is a defining element within FairValue, and each member of the team is of particular importance to us.
Do you remember, they were:
• Doc= The Wise One;
• Bashfull= The Shameful;
• Happy= The Joyful;
• Sleepy= Sleepy;
• Sneezy= Hap-Ciu;
• Grumpy = Grumpy;
• Dopey= Dwarves, the smallest and most popular of the dwarves.
Okay, now let's take them one by one!
Doc, the Wise One, reminds me of a few colleagues who are usually more discreet, they don't talk much, but if you have a more difficult case you can call them quietly, they always have a solution, always with arguments. Fortunately, we have several such "wise ones" on the team and we have someone to consult with in "special" cases.
Bashfull, The Shy One. We also have a few colleagues here, who, although they are very well prepared and do valuable things for us, are still reserved (shy), but they manage, with time and with the encouragement of the others in the team, to overcome this state and gain courage. For some, it happened faster to catch "wings", for some it takes longer, but we are working on this aspect constantly. The important thing is that we support each other, and together we will develop harmoniously.
Happy, the Happy One. There are actually more of us here. We always find reasons for joy and most of the time in simple things. A recent reason that brought us all joy was the return to the office of those who have worked from home for the last 2 years. I must admit that there are many moments of joy in our team, but the peak of these is when we see each other at the annual meetings, in which all colleagues from the country participate and I see the hugs between them and the joy of seeing each other again. At that moment I have confirmation that we really function as a team, we support each other and we are happy to see each other again. Not to mention that the parties are a real success!
Sleepy, Sleepy. Yes, this is a delicate subject, but luckily we have a schedule that doesn't require us to start very early, otherwise, it's hard with some of our colleagues in the first hour. With them, you better wait for them to drink their coffee, let some time pass and only then ask them a question. But everything changes when it comes to the needs of the clients, they "wake up" immediately when they hear the phone ringing.
Sneezy, Hap-Ciu. Lately, the number of us who resemble the dwarf in the story has increased, some of us have had Covid; now we are "having fun" with some viruses and colds. However, we are cautious in our interaction with customers. Summer is coming soon and we don't hear sneezes so often among us.
Grumpy, the Grumpy. Here it is more difficult to tell, but it is certain that we also have colleagues who resemble the dwarf in the story. We have always tried to change them, but in the end we decided to take them as such. Since every "flaw" also has a big plus, if you have the strength to see it, we assigned our colleagues activities where they "fit" better, such as the verification department. How else can anyone take you seriously if you are always cheerful and nice, right? Each of us has our moments, the important thing is that we try our best to be as little grumpy as possible, because it helps us first and foremost, right?
Dopey, Mutulică, the smallest and most popular of the dwarves. In our team, "Mutulică" is not necessarily the smallest, but we have a few funny and always upbeat "mutulici". They are also the ones who, at the annual meetings, after interacting with the other colleagues, always hear how they can't believe how funny they are, but also what wonderful ideas they have.
We have identified other "dwarf types" in our team (here meaning people with different styles and traits), but we will develop them in another article.
I know and truly believe that the differences between us have helped us develop as a team and I am convinced that together we do a wonderful job.
It is precisely these differences, which we knew how to streamline and value, that have made #fairvalueteam one of the largest and most cohesive teams in the field of valuations.
